Golden Edition GTX 980 Ti for 4K Gaming

The MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G Golden Edition is a graphics card built for enthusiasts who want high frame rates at 4096×2160 resolution. It suits builders upgrading an older system or assembling a retro-themed rig around a proven NVIDIA GPU. The 6GB GDDR5 frame buffer and 384bit memory interface deliver the bandwidth needed for demanding textures.

Dual 8pin Power and PCI Express 3.0 16X Slot

Two 8pin power connectors supply the current required by the golden-edition cooler and factory clocks, so a capable power supply is essential. The card occupies a standard PCI Express 3.0 16X slot and uses a full-height bracket, fitting most ATX chassis without modification. No original packaging or accessories are included; the unit ships as a bare card after a 100% functional inspection.

Replaces Mid-Range Cards When 6GB VRAM Is Required

This model replaces mid-range cards that saturate at 2GB or 4GB once texture quality is raised. The jump is worth it when your workload or game engine needs the full 6GB buffer and the 7010/7096MHz memory frequency to avoid stutter. Buyers who want more storage or a newer architecture should look elsewhere, as this is a previous-generation GTX part.

Questions about this item

What bandwidth does the PCI Express 3.0 16X interface deliver for the GTX 980 Ti?

The PCI Express 3.0 16X slot provides up to 16 GT/s per lane, giving the card a theoretical peak of 16 GB/s in each direction for data and texture transfers.

What case clearance and power connectors does the 384-bit 6GB GDDR5 card require?

The board needs two 8-pin power connectors and a dual-slot bracket; measure your case length and ensure the PSU cables reach the top-edge plugs.

How do I install the GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G Golden Edition and what step is often missed?

Seat the card firmly in the primary PCI Express 3.0 16X slot, attach both 8-pin power cables, then install the latest NVIDIA driver before booting into the OS.
