MSI Katana 15.6 QHD Gaming Laptop

This 15.6 inch laptop pairs a 16 core Intel Core i7-14650HX processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card. It targets gamers and creators who need high frame rates at QHD resolution in a portable form factor. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro and 64GB of DDR5 memory.

Build Quality and Daily Connectivity

The black chassis measures 14.13 by 10.31 by .99 inches and weighs 4.29 lbs. A 55.2Wh battery powers the thin bezel IPS panel that covers 100 percent DCI-P3 color. Ports include three USB Type A, one USB Type C, HDMI, RJ-45 and a combo audio jack alongside WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

Upgrade Path From Older Gaming Laptops

The 165Hz QHD display and RTX 5070 with 8GB GDDR7 replace typical 1080p 144Hz panels and previous generation GPUs. The 1TB PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe SSD and 64GB DDR5 5600MHz RAM remove storage and memory bottlenecks found in earlier models. The jump is worth it when you need higher refresh rates at native QHD without external monitors.
