15.6-inch 165Hz QHD gaming laptop

This MSI Katana 15 is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop with a 165Hz QHD display driven by an Intel Core i7-14650HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 GPU with 8GB GDDR7 memory. It ships with 32GB DDR5 RAM and a 512GB PCIe SSD. Windows 11 Home and an Office 2024 licence are pre-installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

The 16-core, 24-thread CPU and RTX 5060 suit gamers and creators who want high frame rates at 2560 x 1600 without moving to a larger chassis. Buyers needing a built-in SD card reader, a fingerprint reader or a higher-capacity drive out of the box should consider other models.

The spec that decides fit

The 165Hz QHD panel sets the visual target; if your workflow or games benefit from 165Hz at 2560 x 1600 this laptop matches that need, otherwise a lower-refresh or lower-resolution screen may be more cost-effective.

Questions about this item

Will the 512 GB PCIe drive hold several large games?

Modern AAA titles often exceed the usable space after Windows 11 and Office 2024, so a second internal drive or fast external SSD is recommended for a bigger library.

Does the laptop support an additional internal SSD?

The chassis has room for a second M.2 PCIe drive; installation requires removing the bottom panel and adding a compatible stick.

Can the 165 Hz QHD panel be driven by an external monitor at the same refresh rate?

Yes, the HDMI 2.1 port supports 2560 x 1600 at 165 Hz, so an external QHD 165 Hz display will run at full speed.
