15.6-inch 144Hz gaming laptop

The MSI Katana A15 combines a 15.6-inch FHD 144Hz display with an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS 8-core processor and GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 graphics. It ships with 32GB DDR5 memory and a 512GB PCIe SSD running Windows 11 Home. The system targets gamers and creators who need high frame rates and fast responsiveness in a portable black chassis.

Windows 11 Home and Office 2024 license

The laptop arrives with Windows 11 Home pre-installed and an Office 2024 license included, so productivity apps are ready without extra purchases. A 720p webcam, RGB backlit keyboard, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, Ethernet and multiple USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 ports are integrated. No SD card reader or fingerprint sensor is fitted.

Engineer-opened seal for upgrades

The manufacturer seal is opened by engineers to install the specified RAM and SSD configuration before shipment. This process adds a one-year warranty on the upgraded components alongside the standard one-year manufacturer warranty on the rest of the unit. Installation is therefore completed before the buyer receives the laptop, reducing the chance of factory defects or compatibility issues.

Questions about this item

Will the 512 GB SSD need to be replaced for more storage later?

The laptop ships with a 512 GB PCIe SSD and no secondary drive bay, so adding capacity means swapping the existing module for a larger one.

Which component hits its limit first during long gaming sessions?

The RTX 4070 8 GB GDDR6 frame buffer fills before the 32 GB DDR5 system memory, capping texture quality in the heaviest titles.

How loud and hot does the Cooler Boost 5 system get when the Ryzen 9 8945HS runs at 5.2 GHz all day?

Cooler Boost 5 uses dual fans and five heat pipes; sustained 5.2 GHz loads push fan speed high and surface temperatures rise noticeably around the keyboard deck.
