15.6-inch 144Hz gaming laptop

The MSI Katana A15 combines a 15.6-inch FHD display running at 144Hz with an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics. It ships with 64GB of DDR5 memory and a 4TB PCIe SSD. Windows 11 Pro and an Office 2024 licence are pre-installed.

Creators and competitive gamers

The 8-core CPU reaching 5.2 GHz and 8GB GDDR6 GPU suit 3D rendering, video editing and high-refresh-rate gaming. Users who need a touchscreen, SD card reader or fingerprint login should consider other models. The 14.05 x 10.2 x 1 inch chassis weighs 5 pounds.

Opened for upgrade by engineers

The factory seal is broken by technicians to install the memory and storage upgrades, then the system is tested before shipping. This reduces factory defects but means the original packaging shows signs of opening. Standard laptop disassembly skills are required for any future internal changes.

Questions about this item

What existing gear must I already have to use the HDMI output on the Katana A15?

A display with an HDMI input and a standard HDMI cable are all that is required; the laptop provides the port directly.

Will my older USB 2.0 peripherals still work with the Katana A15's USB 3.2 Type-A and Type-C ports?

Yes, the two USB 3.2 Type-A ports and the USB 3.2 Type-C port are backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices.

How can I verify the 144 Hz refresh rate is active on the 15.6" FHD panel after setup?

Open Windows 11 Pro display settings, choose the internal screen, and confirm the refresh-rate dropdown shows 144 Hz.
