Ryzen 9 8945HS laptop with 64GB DDR5

The MSI Katana A15 is a 15.6 inch gaming laptop built around an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor running at 4.0 GHz with a 5.2 GHz turbo across eight cores. It pairs that CPU with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 graphics card and a 1TB PCIe SSD. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro and a 144Hz FHD display.

64GB memory for heavy multitasking

This configuration suits users who need 64GB of DDR5 memory for virtual machines, large datasets or content creation workloads alongside gaming. Buyers who only browse the web, stream video or play lighter titles will not use the extra capacity and should consider laptops with less memory.

144Hz FHD panel drives GPU choice

The 15.6 inch 1920 x 1080 144Hz screen sets the resolution and refresh rate the RTX 4070 must drive. If your work demands a higher resolution, a faster refresh rate or a colour-critical panel, this display specification will not match those requirements.

Questions about this item

How do I add more storage to the Katana A15 and which step do people miss?

Open the base cover, insert a PCIe SSD into the free M.2 slot, then initialise the drive in Windows Disk Management before it will appear in File Explorer.

What part of the 64 GB DDR5 memory will need replacement first?

The memory is soldered to the board so it cannot be swapped; only a mainboard replacement would change the 64 GB capacity.

Which limit appears first on the RTX 4070 8 GB GDDR6 during long gaming sessions?

The 8 GB video memory fills before the GPU compute saturates, forcing texture streaming or lower texture settings in newer titles.
