15.6-inch 144Hz FHD gaming laptop

The MSI Katana A15 pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS 8-core processor with a GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 GPU. It ships with 32GB DDR5 memory and a 4TB PCIe SSD running Windows 11 Pro. The 15.6-inch display delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution at 144Hz.

Best for high-refresh 1080p play

The 8-core CPU at up to 5.2 GHz and 32GB RAM suit gamers who also stream, edit video or compile code. The 8GB GPU frame buffer limits 4K ultra texture packs, so buyers targeting 4K native should look elsewhere.

Factory opened for upgrade and test

The supplier breaks the original seal to install the 32GB DDR5 and 4TB PCIe SSD, then runs an inspection. This adds a one-year warranty on the upgraded parts alongside the standard manufacture cover. No user assembly is required; the laptop arrives ready to use.

Questions about this item

Does the Katana A15 require an external power adapter to run the RTX 4070 at full performance?

Yes, the laptop ships with a power adapter that supplies the 4070 and the Ryzen 9 8945HS under load; battery alone cannot sustain peak clocks.

Will my existing USB 2.0 mouse and keyboard work with the USB 2.0 and USB 3.2 Type-A ports on this laptop?

Yes, the single USB 2.0 port and the two USB 3.2 Type-A ports are backward compatible, so legacy peripherals connect without adapters.

How can I confirm the 144 Hz panel is actually running at 144 Hz after Windows 11 Pro setup?

Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and verify the refresh-rate dropdown shows 144 Hz for the built-in 15.6" FHD screen.
