MSI Raider A18 HX gaming laptop

This 18 inch MSI Raider A18 HX model delivers a UHD+ Mini LED panel at 120 Hz driven by a Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor and an RTX 5080 GPU with 16 GB GDDR7. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR5 6400 MHz memory in dual channel and 16 TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage across two 8 TB drives. Windows 11 Pro is preinstalled on the Core Black chassis.

120 Hz Mini LED display limits

The 18 inch panel runs at 3840 x 2400 resolution with a 120 Hz refresh ceiling so motion clarity tops out at that frame rate. Mini LED backlighting improves contrast yet the fixed refresh means variable refresh technologies cannot push beyond 120 Hz. External monitors can exceed this limit through the available video outputs while the internal screen remains bound to its native specification.

Thermal compound upgrade and storage installation

Gelid GC Extreme thermal interface material is applied to the CPU and GPU during the build to order process reducing temperatures under sustained load. The 16 TB NVMe array arrives as two 8 TB M.2 modules already seated and configured in the laptop. Memory is installed as two 32 GB DDR5 sticks in dual channel. Buyers should verify BIOS version and driver stability on first boot as the unit undergoes burn in and benchmark validation before shipping.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16 TB storage or a smaller drive?

The laptop ships with 16 TB made from two 8 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSDs, so you already have the maximum capacity this build offers.

What does the 5.4 GHz turbo actually deliver in daily use?

The Ryzen 9 9955HX3D can hit 5.4 GHz on its 16 cores, giving strong single-thread speed for games and multi-thread power for rendering.

Does the PCIe 4.0 interface limit the SSD speed?

The two NVMe drives run at PCIe 4.0 x4 each, so sequential reads top out around 7 000 MB/s per drive.
