A dual-socket SP5 barebones server supporting AMD EPYC 9004 processors with twelve NVMe, SAS and SATA hot-swap bays and two 10Gb network ports
This MSI S1206-02-10G barebone server accepts two AMD EPYC 9004 Series processors in a dual Socket SP5 layout. It targets cloud services, content delivery, network virtualisation, 5G edge sites and AI inference workloads. The chassis is built for general-purpose server deployments that need high core counts in a compact form factor.
Twelve front-access drive bays handle NVMe, SAS and SATA media in any mix, allowing all-flash or hybrid storage pools without extra enclosures. Dual 10Gb network ports provide high-throughput connectivity for distributed workloads. The design keeps storage and networking close to the CPUs for low-latency data paths.
The board only accepts AMD EPYC 9004 Series CPUs in a two-socket configuration, so buyers must source a matched pair of SP5 parts. Single-socket operation or older EPYC generations are not supported. Verify cooler clearance and power-phase requirements against the chosen SKUs before ordering.

Align each CPU with the socket triangle, lower the carrier gently, and torque the retention screws in a cross pattern to the specified value; the step often missed is applying even pressure so the carrier seats fully before tightening.
The hot-swap drive carriers and system fans are the primary field-replaceable items; drives can be swapped without tools, and fan modules slide out from the front for service.
The two 10 Gb network links become the throughput bottleneck before the drive array or CPU complex saturates.
