1-1/2 Inch PVC DWV Male Adapter
This Schedule 40 PVC fitting connects a 1-1/2 inch hub to a male NPT thread in drain, waste and vent systems. The white adapter meets ASTM D1784 cell class 12454 for material consistency. It is supplied new and intended for non-pressure drainage installations.
Temperature and pressure limits under continuous
The fitting carries a maximum temperature rating of 140 degrees F and is not rated for pressure applications. Sustained exposure above this temperature or any pressurised use falls outside the manufacturer’s specifications. Installers should verify that system conditions remain within these bounds.
Schedule 40 construction and hub-by-MNPT joint
The Schedule 40 wall thickness provides standard DWV rigidity for gravity-flow piping. The hub-by-MNPT configuration allows a solvent-weld connection on one side and a threaded joint on the other, simplifying transitions between pipe and threaded components. White PVC resists corrosion in typical drainage environments.

Questions about this item
Will the PVC fitting soften or leak if hot water runs through it continuously?
The adapter is rated for a maximum temperature of 140 degrees F, so continuous hot water below that limit will not soften the Schedule 40 PVC.
What pipe and thread sealant do I need to connect this hub to a 1-1/2 inch DWV line?
Use PVC primer and solvent cement for the hub side; apply PTFE tape or pipe dope on the male NPT threads for a watertight seal.
Can I glue this adapter into an older ABS drain system without a transition coupling?
No, solvent cement does not bond PVC to ABS; a proper transition coupling is required to join the two materials.
