6 in x 4 in PVC Reducing Coupling
This Schedule 40 PVC reducing coupling connects a 6 in pipe to a 4 in pipe using female socket ends on both sides. It is intended for gravity-flow drainage systems in residential or light commercial plumbing installations.
Hub socket design for solvent welding
The hub sockets accept standard Schedule 40 pipe outside diameters of 6 5/8 in and 4 1/2 in respectively, allowing a direct solvent-weld joint without additional adapters. No seal is included, so primer and cement must be supplied by the installer.
Rated for -20 °F to 140 °F service temperature
The coupling handles continuous operating temperatures from -20 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, which covers typical cold-water and vent lines. It is not rated for pressure applications beyond gravity flow.

Questions about this item
Does the PVC reducing coupling need any sealant or gasket replacement over time?
The fitting is a Schedule 40 PVC socket coupling that uses solvent cement for a permanent joint; no separate seal or gasket is included, so no future gasket replacement is required.
What is the maximum operating pressure the coupling can sustain continuously?
It is rated for gravity-flow service only, meaning it is not designed for continuous pressure; the maximum operating temperature is 140 degrees F.
Will the PVC material soften or degrade if hot water runs through it all day?
The coupling handles temperatures from -20 to 140 degrees F, so typical hot-water use stays within its rated range and the material will not soften under normal conditions.
