Tri-Band Directional Antenna for Wi-Fi Testers

This external directional antenna operates across 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz frequency bands. It connects to compatible NetAlly instruments to provide focused signal reception. Network technicians use it to pinpoint access points and client devices with greater precision than built-in omnidirectional antennas allow.

Passive Operation with No Power Requirements

The antenna functions as a passive component, drawing no power from the test instrument and generating no heat or noise. Its directional gain improves signal-to-noise ratio during surveys without adding thermal load or acoustic distraction to the work environment.

Focused Reception Replaces Omnidirectional Coverage

Bundled use with EtherScope nXG or AirCheck G2 replaces the instruments' internal omnidirectional pattern with a narrow, high-gain beam. This change enables faster localisation of specific RF sources but is not suited for general-area coverage mapping or simultaneous multi-direction monitoring.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the EXT-ANT-TRIBAND to my EtherScope nXG or AirCheck G2 for directional testing?

Connect the antenna to the external RP-SMA port on the tester, then point the directional element toward the target AP or client to focus the 2.4, 5 and 6GHz reception.

What ongoing care does the tri-band directional antenna require after deployment?

Inspect the connector and cable for wear, keep the radome clean, and verify the mounting hardware remains tight after vibration or weather exposure.

What practical range limit appears first when using this antenna continuously in a noisy 2.4GHz environment?

Co-channel interference and the tester's receiver sensitivity typically bound usable distance before the antenna's own gain rolls off.
