SFP transceiver for managed switches

This Netgear AGM731F module adds 1000Base-SX fiber connectivity to any NETGEAR Fully Managed Switch with an SFP slot. It provides full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet operation and is automatically recognised when inserted. The LC duplex connector accepts 62.5/125µm or 50/125µm multimode cables. Power draw is 1.1W.

Multi-mode fiber links up to 550 m

The transceiver suits installers who need to link switches over OM1, OM2 or OM3 multimode fiber within a building or campus. Reach is 275 m on OM1, 275–550 m on OM2 and 550 m on OM3. It is not for single-mode fiber runs, nor for 10G or faster uplink requirements. Buyers needing longer distances or different wavelengths should look elsewhere.

Operating temperature range -5 °C to 70 °C

The case operating temperature spans 23–158 °F (-5–70 °C), which determines whether the module can stay reliable inside a given switch chassis or cabinet. Storage tolerance is wider at -40–185 °F (-40–85 °C). If the installation environment exceeds the operating limits, a different transceiver class will be required.

Questions about this item

How do I install this SFP module into a Netgear managed switch?

Slide the AGM731F into any free SFP slot until it clicks; the switch auto-detects the module so no software configuration is needed.

What maintenance or replacement will the AGM731F need over time?

The module has an MTBF of more than 10 years and no user-serviceable parts, so replacement is only required if the unit fails.

What distance limit appears first when running this transceiver continuously on OM1 fiber?

OM1 multimode fiber caps the link at 275 metres, which is the shortest supported reach for this module.
