16-Port Gigabit Unmanaged Switch

The Netgear GS516-300NAS provides sixteen RJ45 ports operating at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps in a fanless metal enclosure. It is built for small offices or workgroups that need silent, zero-configuration connectivity without the complexity of managed features.

IEEE 802.3az and Class A Limits

The switch complies with IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3x, 802.3az and 802.1p standards, delivering flow control and Energy Efficient Ethernet on twisted-pair cabling. Electromagnetic emissions meet CE, UKCA, FCC, ISED, VCCI, RCM, KC and BSMI Class A requirements, so it is suited for commercial environments rather than residential ones.

32 Gbps Bandwidth and 8K MAC Table

Non-blocking switching fabric of 32 Gbps handles full duplex traffic across all sixteen ports with a 512.5 KB buffer and 9 KB jumbo frame support. The 8K MAC address table and wire-speed forwarding rates of 1,488,000 frames per second per gigabit port give ample headroom for typical LAN workloads, while the lack of PoE and stacking ports means it cannot power devices or form a logical stack with other units.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16-port desktop version or the rack-mount kit for my office?

This model is a single 16-port unit that works on a desktop, can be wall-mounted with included brackets, and fits a standard 19-inch rack using the supplied hardware — no separate kit is required.

What does the 128 MB/s maximum transfer rate mean when I connect real devices?

It represents the theoretical peak of a single Gigabit link; actual throughput will be lower due to protocol overhead, cable quality and the performance of the attached endpoints.

How does the 32 Gbps switching bandwidth limit traffic when all 16 ports run at 1 Gbps?

The 32 Gbps non-blocking fabric can handle full-duplex line-rate traffic on every port simultaneously, so no port is throttled by the backplane.
