Purpose & Compatibility

The NEXGRILL 04004007A0 Flame Tamer is a replacement component designed for specific gas grill models. It fits the 860-0031 reference and is compatible with multiple Better Homes and Gardens grills including the 720-0783H, 720-0783DC and 720-0783R series. It also serves Grill Master models 720-0697 and 720-0737 across various production years.

Sustained Operation

Under continuous grilling heat the part distributes flame evenly and protects burners from drippings that cause flare-ups. Its metal construction endures repeated high-temperature cycles without warping, maintaining consistent heat diffusion across the cooking surface throughout extended cooking sessions.

Upgrade Context

This component replaces a worn or corroded original flame tamer on the listed grill models. The jump is worth it when the existing tamer develops holes, heavy rust or uneven heating that affects cooking performance. It is not for grills outside the specified model ranges or for users needing a different part number.

Questions about this item

Does the 04004007A0 flame tamer generate noise or heat during extended grill sessions?

The flame tamer is a passive metal shield; it produces no noise and simply distributes burner heat evenly across the cooking surface.

Which grill models must I already own for the 04004007A0 to fit correctly?

It fits Better Homes and Gardens 720-0783H, 720-0783DC and 720-0783R, plus Grill Master 720-0697 and 720-0737 series listed for 2010 through 2014.

Will the 04004007A0 flame tamer work alongside the original 860-0031 burner tubes on my older grill?

Yes — the part is designed to sit directly above the 860-0031 burners, so it installs without modifying the existing burner assembly.
