Copper Straight Coupling 5/8 in
The NIBCO 600 series straight coupling joins two 5/8 in copper tubes using sweat connections on both ends. It is suited for air, gas and potable water lines in residential and light commercial plumbing. Wrot copper construction provides corrosion resistance and long service life.
Replaces worn or leaking sweat couplings
Use this fitting when an existing straight coupling shows corrosion, joint failure or does not meet the 505 psi at 200 degrees F rating required by the system. The upgrade is worthwhile when operating pressures approach the 505 psi limit or when service temperatures reach 400 degrees F and the old fitting cannot guarantee that performance.
Handles 5/8 in copper tube at 505 psi
The coupling comfortably manages standard potable water, air and gas distribution at the rated pressure and temperature. It runs out of headroom if the system pressure exceeds 505 psi at 200 degrees F or if the service temperature surpasses 400 degrees F, conditions that require a higher-rated fitting.

Questions about this item
What copper tube size does the 5/8 in straight coupling accept on each end?
Each end accepts a 5/8 in copper tube size with a 3/4 in tube outer diameter for sweat soldering.
How do I install the straight coupling and what step is often missed?
Clean both tube ends and the cup interiors, apply flux, insert tubes fully into each cup, then sweat solder the joints evenly around the circumference.
When should the coupling be inspected or replaced under normal potable water use?
Inspect joints annually for leaks or corrosion; replace if green patina, pitting, or seepage appears at the soldered connections.
