Copper Reducing Coupling 1-1/4" x 1/2
This wrot copper reducing coupling joins a 1-1/4 inch tube to a 1/2 inch tube in plumbing systems. It handles potable water, air and gases with a straight reducing shape. The fitting uses a sweat connection on both ends for permanent soldered joints. It is rated for 439 psi at 100 degrees F and up to 400 degrees F.
Sweat FTG x Cup Connections
The FTG end fits inside a 1-1/4 inch copper fitting while the cup end accepts a 1/2 inch copper tube. This replaces a bushing or two separate couplings when reducing pipe size in a single joint. The jump is worth it when a compact, leak-resistant transition is required without additional fittings.
Soldered Joint Temperature Limit
The copper material and sweat joint design limit use to the 400 degree F maximum operating temperature. Exceeding this temperature can weaken the solder bond and the fitting itself. The 439 psi pressure rating applies only at the lower 100 degree F reference point. Installers must verify system temperatures stay within this range.

Questions about this item
What tube outer diameters must match the 1 3/8 in and 5/8 in ends of this copper reducer?
The FTG end accepts a 1 3/8 in copper tube and the cup end accepts a 5/8 in copper tube.
Which joint should be soldered first to avoid trapping flux inside the 6002 reducer?
Solder the cup end to the 1/2 in tube first, then insert the FTG end into the 1 1/4 in fitting and solder that joint.
When should the reducer be inspected or replaced given its 439 psi rating at 100 Degrees F?
Inspect joints annually for green corrosion or leaks; replace if pressure tests exceed 439 psi or temperature exceeds 400 Degrees F.
