Copper Reducer 4" x 3" FTG x C
The Nibco 6002 is a wrot-copper straight reducing coupling that joins a 4-inch fitting-end tube to a 3-inch copper tube. It serves plumbing and mechanical installers who need a permanent sweat-joint transition between those two nominal sizes in air, gas or potable-water systems.
Replaces threaded or flanged transitions
The coupling eliminates separate adapters and thread sealant when moving from 4 1/8-inch OD tube to 3 1/8-inch OD tube. The jump is worth it when a compact, leak-tight sweat joint is preferred over bulkier mechanical connections and the system operates within the 293 psi rating at 100 Degrees F.
Sustained pressure and temperature behaviour
Rated for continuous service up to 400 Degrees F at the stated pressure, the fitting maintains joint integrity through thermal cycling without the creep seen in softer alloys. The straight reducing profile keeps flow restriction minimal during extended operation.

Questions about this item
What copper tube sizes does the 4" x 3" FTG x C reducer connect?
It joins a 4 in copper tube on the FTG end to a 3 in copper tube on the cup end, with outer diameters of 4 1/8 in and 3 1/8 in respectively.
How is the wrot copper fitting installed, and what step is often missed?
The straight reducing coupling is sweat-soldered; the step often missed is thoroughly cleaning and fluxing both tube ends before heating to ensure a leak-free joint.
What pressure and temperature limits determine when the reducer must be replaced?
The fitting is rated for 293 psi at 100 °F and up to 400 °F; if system conditions exceed either limit, the reducer should be inspected and replaced.
