Copper Adapter Trap for 1/2 Inch Lines
This Nibco 604 wrot copper adapter connects 1/2 inch nominal copper tube to a 1/2 inch male NPT thread. It suits residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a sweat-to-thread transition is required. The fitting is rated for temperatures from -20 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and meets ASME/ANSI B 16.22 standards.
Pressure and Temperature Headroom
The adapter withstands a maximum pressure of 722 psi at 100 degrees Fahrenheit, providing ample margin for typical potable water and hydronic heating systems. At the upper temperature limit of 400 degrees Fahrenheit the allowable pressure drops, so designers must consult the applicable pressure-temperature charts for high-temperature service.
Replaces Threaded Brass or Dielectric Unions
Use this copper adapter instead of a threaded brass coupling when the system is all-copper and galvanic corrosion is a concern. The jump is worthwhile on new copper rough-ins or when retrofitting a threaded valve onto existing copper pipe, eliminating the need for a separate dielectric fitting.

Questions about this item
Will the 1/2" MNPT thread on this Nibco 604 adapter seal reliably against my existing 1/2" female iron pipe fittings?
Yes, the 1/2" MNPT male pipe thread is cut to ASME/ANSI B 16.22 so it mates with standard 1/2" female iron pipe threads; use pipe-thread sealant or tape for a leak-free joint.
How can I confirm the wrot-copper sweat joint is solid after I solder the 5/8" OD tube into the 1/2" nominal C end?
Pressurise the line up to the 722 psi rating at 100 °F and inspect the solder fillet — a continuous, shiny ring with no voids means the joint is sound.
Does the box include flux, solder or thread tape, or must I buy those separately?
The package contains only the copper adapter; flux, solder and pipe-thread sealant are not included and must be purchased separately.
