3/4-Inch Bronze Drain Coupling
The NIBCO 701D is a sweat fitting coupling made from cast bronze for copper tube installations. It joins two 3/4-inch copper tubes using cup connections on both ends. The fitting carries no centre stop, so tubes slide fully through if not mechanically limited. It suits air and non-potable water systems in residential or light commercial plumbing.
Pressure and Temperature Limits
Rated at 466 psi at 200 degrees F, the coupling handles typical hydronic and compressed-air pressures. Maximum operating temperature reaches 400 degrees F, covering most hot-water heating loops. These limits define the practical envelope; exceeding either risks joint failure or accelerated dezincification of the bronze alloy.
Capacity and Headroom
The 3/4-inch bore accommodates standard flow rates for branch drains and equipment connections without restriction. Bronze construction resists corrosion better than plain copper in aggressive water chemistry, extending service life. Systems demanding larger diameter or potable-water approval will require a different fitting.

Questions about this item
Should I choose the 3/4 in copper tube size or a different capacity for my drain line?
This coupling is made for 3/4 in copper tube on both ends, so it fits only that size.
What does the 466 psi rating mean when the fitting is installed in a hot-water system?
At 200 Degrees F the joint holds up to 466 psi; above that temperature the pressure limit drops.
How does the sweat cup-to-cup connection affect the pressure the fitting can handle?
The soldered cup joints are rated for the same 466 psi at 200 Degrees F and 400 Degrees F maximum temperature.
