3-inch Bronze Union for Potable Water
This straight union coupling joins two 3-inch copper tubes using sweat connections on both ends. The low-lead bronze body meets NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF/ANSI 372 standards for drinking water systems. It is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 254 psi and a maximum temperature of 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
Replaces Threaded or Flanged Joints on 3-inch Lines
The union allows the pipe run to be separated without cutting copper when valves, pumps or meters need service. The jump from a permanent sweat joint is worth it wherever future maintenance access is required on a 3-inch main. It is not suited for smaller branch lines or for installers who prefer press or push-fit connections.
Holds 254 psi Continuously at 200 Degrees F
Under sustained pressure and temperature the bronze casting and ground-joint seal maintain integrity without weeping. The fitting complies with ASME B16.18 dimensional requirements and is produced under an ISO 9001 quality system. It is not designed for steam service above the rated temperature or for cyclic shock loads beyond the stated pressure limit.

Questions about this item
What copper tube size does the 3 in straight union coupling accept on each end?
Both ends accept 3 in copper tube size with a 3 1/8 in outer diameter for sweat soldering.
How is the union installed and what step is often missed?
Sweat solder each cup end to the pipe; the step often missed is disassembling the union nut and removing the gasket before applying heat so the seal is not damaged.
When should the gasket inside the union be replaced?
Replace the gasket whenever the union is taken apart for service or if leakage appears at the joint during pressure testing up to 254 psi.
