Bronze Union Trap for Potable Water
The Nibco 7333LF-12 is a straight union trap made from C87850 bronze. It joins a 1/2 in copper tube on the cup side to a 1/2 in FNPT thread on the other. Rated for 577 psi at 200 Degrees F, it meets ASTM B584 and NSF/ANSI 61 Annex G for drinking-water systems.
Installers needing a sweat-to-thread transition
This fitting suits plumbers who need a direct copper-to-FNPT joint in hot or cold potable lines. It is not for installers who require a press, push-fit or compression connection, nor for systems that exceed the 577 psi or 200 Degrees F limits.
Fits 1/2 in copper and FNPT piping
The union slides onto 1/2 in copper tube (5/8 in OD) for soldering and mates with standard 1/2 in FNPT fittings. It eliminates the need for a separate adapter and nipple, reducing potential leak paths. Operates down to 20 Degrees F, so it handles seasonal chilled-water loops.

Questions about this item
What copper tube size must I already have to solder the cup end of this 1/2 in bronze union trap?
The cup side is sized for 1/2 in copper tube with a 5/8 in outer diameter, so you need matching 1/2 in copper pipe and soldering supplies to make the joint.
Will the FNPT threaded side of this union trap seal directly onto my existing 1/2 in iron pipe threads?
Yes, the Side B connection is a 1/2 in FNPT thread designed to mate with standard 1/2 in male pipe threads on older iron or brass piping.
How can I verify the union trap is holding pressure after I sweat the cup and thread the FNPT side?
Pressurise the line up to the 577 psi rating and inspect both the soldered cup joint and the threaded FNPT connection for any visible leaks.
