Six-port 10G desktop switch

The NICGIGA switch provides four 2.5GbE RJ45 ports and two 10GbE RJ45 ports in an unmanaged, fanless metal enclosure. It targets home offices, creative studios and small businesses that need multi-gigabit uplinks for NAS, WiFi7 access points or 10G workstations without configuring software. Auto-negotiation handles 100Mbps through 10Gbps on every port.

RJ45 copper distance limit

Each RJ45 port runs at its negotiated speed over standard twisted-pair cabling up to 100 metres. The 2.5GbE ports step down to 1GbE or 100Mbps; the 10GbE ports step down to 5Gbps, 2.5Gbps, 1Gbps or 100Mbps. Jumbo frames up to 9216 bytes pass through the non-blocking 60Gbps fabric without configuration.

Replaces a gigabit switch

Moving from a 1GbE switch removes the 1Gbps bottleneck for 2.5G NAS units, WiFi7 APs and 10G NICs. The upgrade is worth it when file transfers, backups or 8K streaming regularly saturate gigabit links. Buyers who need PoE power delivery or managed features such as VLANs and SNMP should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Should I use the four 2.5G ports or the two 10G ports for my NAS?

Connect the NAS to a 10G port for maximum throughput; the 2.5G ports are ideal for WiFi7 access points, PCs or consoles that do not need 10G speeds.

What does the 60Gbps switching capacity mean for daily use?

It means the switch can move up to 60 gigabits of data each second across all six ports simultaneously without blocking or congestion.

Are the RJ45 ports limited to the 100Mbps uplink speed shown in the specifications?

No — the 100Mbps uplink figure is a legacy spec; the actual ports auto-negotiate at 2.5Gbps on ports 1–4 and 10Gbps on ports 5–6.
