Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G camera lens

Versatile DX Zoom for Everyday Shooting

The AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G covers a 27-82.5mm equivalent focal range on Nikon DX-format cameras. Its variable aperture keeps the barrel compact and light, making it a practical choice for travel, family events and general walk-around photography. The lens suits beginners and enthusiasts who want a single zoom for wide-angle to short-telephoto perspectives without carrying multiple primes.

Compact Build with Menu-Based Controls

Two aspherical elements and Super Integrated Coating reduce distortion, flare and ghosting across the zoom range. A pulse stepping motor delivers fast, quiet autofocus suitable for both stills and video recording. Physical switches are omitted from the barrel; focus mode, vibration reduction and other settings are adjusted through the camera menu, preventing accidental changes during handling. The rounded 7-blade diaphragm produces smooth background blur at wider apertures.

Variable Aperture Limits Low-Light Use

The maximum aperture shifts from f/3.5 at 18mm to f/5.6 at 55mm, restricting light gathering at the telephoto end. Photographers who regularly shoot indoor sports, stage performances or night scenes without flash will find this lens less capable than constant-aperture alternatives. It remains a strong value for daylight and well-lit situations where its focal versatility and lightweight design are the priority.
