Ultra-wide DX zoom for landscape and architecture
The Nikon AF-S DX 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED covers an ultra-wide 12-24mm range that becomes an 18-36mm equivalent on DX sensors. It targets photographers shooting landscapes, architecture and interiors who need consistent f/4 brightness across the zoom. The lens uses five aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements to maintain clarity from centre to edge.
Check your DSLR mount and sensor format
This lens uses a Nikon F mount built for DX-format DSLR cameras. Confirm that your body accepts DX lenses and that you want the 18-36mm equivalent view rather than a wider or longer range. The aperture stops down to f/22, so verify that your shooting style can work within that limit. Autofocus relies on the in-lens Silent Wave Motor, so the camera must support AF-S drive.
Thermals noise and power in normal use
The lens draws power from the camera body for its Silent Wave Motor and aperture control, adding only a modest drain during focusing. There are no cooling fans or active components, so operation stays silent aside from the faint motor sound. Barrel length does not change while zooming thanks to the internal focus design, keeping handling stable during extended sessions.
