Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Lens Kit

Prime Lens for DX Shooters

The AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G is a fixed focal length lens built for Nikon DX-format DSLR cameras. It delivers a 44 degree picture angle that matches a 50mm equivalent view, approximating the perspective of the human eye. The fast f/1.8 maximum aperture enables shallow depth of field and low-light shooting without flash. A Silent Wave Motor provides quick, quiet autofocus with full-time manual focus override.

Upgrade from Kit Zooms

This prime replaces the variable-aperture zoom lenses often bundled with entry-level DSLRs. The constant f/1.8 aperture gathers significantly more light across the frame, making indoor and evening photography practical at lower ISO settings. The jump is worth it when you want subject separation with a natural perspective and a compact form factor that encourages daily carry. The rounded seven-blade diaphragm renders out-of-focus areas smoothly for a more organic look.

F-Mount DX Constraints

The lens uses the Nikon F mount and covers the DX image circle natively. When mounted on an FX-format body, the camera automatically engages DX crop mode, reducing the effective resolution of the sensor. The 52mm filter thread accepts screw-on filters, and the included HB-46 bayonet hood helps control flare. Rear focusing keeps the front element stationary during focus, simplifying the use of polarising filters.
