Prime lens for Nikon DSLRs

The Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G is a fast prime lens built for Nikon F-mount DSLR cameras. It covers both FX and DX formats with a fixed 50mm focal length. The wide f/1.4 maximum aperture suits low-light shooting and shallow depth of field. An ultrasonic-type autofocus motor delivers quick, quiet focus with full-time manual override.

Thermals noise and power

The lens operates passively with no internal motors that generate heat or audible noise during normal use. It draws no electrical power from the camera body beyond standard autofocus communication. The optical design uses 58mm screw-on filters and includes the HB-47 hood to reduce flare. Minimum focus distance is 0.45m (17.72 inches).

Questions about this item

How do I attach the 58mm filter and HB-47 hood to the Nikon F mount lens?

Screw the 58mm filter onto the front thread first, then snap the HB-47 hood onto the filter ring; aligning the hood tabs before twisting prevents cross-threading.

When should I replace the ultrasonic AF motor or aperture blades on this f/1.4 prime?

The ultrasonic motor and aperture blades are sealed units with no user-service schedule; only a Nikon service centre can assess wear if autofocus becomes inconsistent or aperture stops stick.
