Wide zoom for landscape and interior work

The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR covers a 16-35mm focal range with a constant f/4 aperture. Three aspherical and two extra-low dispersion elements reduce distortion and aberrations. Nano Crystal Coat controls flare and ghosting. VR II image stabilization compensates for camera shake by 2.5 stops. Silent Wave Motor drives fast, accurate autofocus. The lens is designed for mirrorless cameras and suits landscape, cityscape and interior photography.

Bundled accessories extend shooting time

A Sandisk 64GB Ultra memory card adds storage for high-resolution files. The 3-piece filter kit provides creative and protective options at the 77mm thread. A Pro Sling backpack carries the lens and extras. A 12-inch flexible tripod supports low-angle or tabletop work. Memory card reader and wallet speed up offload and organisation. Lens cap keeper prevents lost caps. Cleaning kit maintains optical clarity. Corel photo software enables editing out of the box.

Simple F-mount attachment with common pitfalls

The lens mounts directly on compatible Nikon bodies without adapters. VR switch on the barrel activates stabilisation; leave it off when on a sturdy tripod. Autofocus is driven by the in-lens Silent Wave Motor, so it works on bodies without a focus motor. The 77mm front thread accepts the included filters and hood. Common issues: forgetting to disable VR on a tripod can introduce blur, and the deep hood may vignette at 16mm if a thick filter stack is used.

Questions about this item

Will the VR II mechanism or Silent Wave Motor need servicing after heavy use?

The lens uses a Silent Wave Motor for autofocus and VR II stabilization rated at 2.5 stops; no user-serviceable parts are inside, so professional service would be required if either unit fails.

What optical limit appears first when shooting at 16mm wide open for architecture?

At 16mm and f/4 the three aspherical and two extra-low dispersion elements control distortion and aberration, but corner sharpness typically reaches its limit before centre performance.

How much heat does the VR II system generate during all-day handheld shooting?

VR II draws minimal power from the camera body and produces no noticeable heat during extended handheld use; the lens barrel remains at ambient temperature.
