20.9MP DX-Format Sensor Decides Fit

The 20.9MP DX-format CMOS sensor determines the crop factor and low-light performance ceiling. If your workflow requires the wider field of view or specific depth-of-field characteristics of a larger sensor format, this body will not meet that core requirement.

Questions about this item

What lens mount does the D7500 body use so I know which lenses to buy?

The body uses the Nikon F mount, accepting both DX and FX format lenses with full autofocus and metering support.

Can I keep using my older AF-D lenses on the D7500?

Yes, AF-D lenses mount and meter correctly, though they will focus manually because the body lacks a built-in focus motor.

How do I confirm the 4K UHD video is recording at the specified 30 fps?

Open the movie settings menu and verify the frame-rate option reads 30p, then record a clip and check the file properties for 30 fps playback.
