Versatile 24-120mm f/4 zoom for FX DSLRs

The AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR covers a 24mm to 120mm range with a constant f/4 aperture, making it suitable for events, travel, landscapes and portraits. Vibration Reduction II and a Silent Wave Motor provide stabilisation and quiet autofocus. It uses a 77mm filter thread and weighs 2.44 units.

Simple F-mount attachment with VR considerations

The lens mounts directly on Nikon F cameras and uses internal focusing so the front element does not rotate, easing polariser use. VR II should be switched off when the camera is on a stable tripod to avoid potential feedback blur. Autofocus is driven by a Silent Wave Motor for responsive operation.

Steady performance across the zoom range

The constant f/4 aperture maintains consistent exposure settings from wide angle to telephoto without requiring shutter-speed compensation while zooming. VR II delivers up to four stops of shake correction, helping maintain sharpness during extended handheld sessions at 120mm. Optical construction with two ED elements and Nano Crystal Coat controls aberrations and flare under sustained use.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Vibration Reduction is active after mounting the lens?

Switch the VR selector on the barrel to ON, half-press the shutter and listen for the stabilisation motor; the viewfinder image should steady noticeably.

What accessories are included and what must I buy separately?

The lens ships with front and rear caps; a 77 mm filter, lens hood and tripod collar are sold separately.

Which focal-length version should I choose for FX travel work?

This single 24-120 mm model covers wide-angle to short-telephoto on FX bodies, so no other version is needed for that role.
