Compact DX Prime for Everyday Shooting

The AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G is a 52.5mm-equivalent prime lens built for Nikon DX-format cameras. Its bright f/1.8 maximum aperture suits low-light work and shallow depth of field. The compact design makes it a practical choice for daily carry and general photography.

Optical Extras That Shape the Image

One aspherical element reduces distortion and spherical aberration for improved sharpness. Super Integrated Coating cuts flare and ghosting to preserve contrast in backlit scenes. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces smoother out-of-focus highlights at wider apertures.

Simple F-Mount Fit With Quiet Focus

The lens mounts directly on any Nikon F-mount DX body without adapters. Silent Wave Motor drives fast, near-silent autofocus and allows full-time manual override. The maximum aperture of f/22 limits diffraction control for shooters who need smaller stops.

Questions about this item

Will the rounded 7-blade diaphragm or the aspherical element need replacement after heavy use?

Neither the rounded 7-blade diaphragm nor the single aspherical element are user-serviceable parts; they are built into the optical barrel and do not require scheduled replacement.

What optical limit appears first when shooting continuously at f/1.8 in bright light?

At the maximum f/1.8 aperture the minimum focus distance and depth-of-field constraints become the practical limit before any thermal or mechanical threshold is reached.

How much heat or noise does the Silent Wave Motor produce during all-day video recording?

The Silent Wave Motor runs near-silently and generates negligible heat, so extended video sessions remain quiet and the barrel stays cool to the touch.
