Nikon International AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Zoom Lens

What the lens does and who uses it

This Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR zoom covers an 18-140mm focal range with a variable f/3.5-5.6 aperture for DX-format DSLR cameras. The 7.8x ratio spans wide-angle group shots through telephoto sports or wildlife frames in a single, compact unit. It suits photographers who want one lens on the camera for everyday travel, family events and general-purpose video without swapping glass. Buyers who need faster constant aperture or full-frame coverage should look elsewhere.

What to verify on your camera before ordering

Confirm the body uses a Nikon F mount and an APS-C DX sensor so the image circle matches and autofocus drives correctly. The built-in Silent Wave Motor works with all current DX bodies, including entry models that lack an in-body focus motor. Check that your menu allows VR activation and that you are comfortable with the variable maximum aperture across the zoom range. No adapter or firmware update is mentioned in the supplied data.

Behaviour during extended shooting sessions

Vibration Reduction rated at four stops helps keep handheld frames sharp during long low-light sequences or when zoomed to 140mm for sustained periods. Extra-low Dispersion glass and the aspherical element suppress chromatic aberration and coma that can accumulate over many frames. Super Integrated Coating maintains consistent colour transmission and reduces flare during prolonged backlit or mixed-light video takes. Minimum focus distance of 1.48 feet allows close-up detail work without changing lenses.
