Ready-to-shoot DSLR kit

This bundle pairs a Nikon D3500 body with the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens, a 64GB UHS-I U3 card, a padded case, a USB card reader and a full cleaning set. It is aimed at first-time interchangeable-lens buyers who want a single box that covers camera, storage, protection and maintenance.

Sensor performance in extended use

The 24.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor works with the EXPEED 4 processor to deliver a native ISO range of 100-25600 without an optical low-pass filter, preserving detail during long sessions. Continuous shooting runs at 5 fps, and Full HD 1080p video can be recorded at 60 fps until the card or battery limits are reached.

Step up from phone or compact

The larger APS-C sensor and 11-point Multi-CAM 1000 autofocus system give noticeably better low-light image quality and subject tracking than a smartphone or fixed-lens compact. SnapBridge Bluetooth simplifies image transfer to a mobile device. Photographers who need faster burst rates, dual card slots or 4K video should look at higher-tier bodies.

Questions about this item

How much heat and battery drain should I expect from the D3500 and EXPEED 4 processor during a full day of shooting?

The EN-EL14A battery powers the 24.2MP sensor and EXPEED 4 processor for extended sessions; the body stays cool during typical stills and 1080p60 video use.

Which memory card speed class is required to record Full HD 1080p at 60 fps without buffer delays?

The included 64GB UHS-I U3 card meets the sustained write speed needed for 1080p60 recording and 5 fps continuous shooting.

Will my older AF-D lenses autofocus on the D3500 body, or do I need AF-P or AF-S glass?

The D3500 lacks an in-body focus motor, so AF-D lenses operate in manual focus only; the bundled AF-P 18-55mm and other AF-S lenses autofocus normally.
