Compact Standard Zoom for Z-Mount

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 is a retractable zoom lens designed for FX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras and compatible with DX models. It covers a 24-50mm focal range, delivering a 36-75mm equivalent angle of view on DX bodies. The optical design uses three aspherical and two extra-low dispersion elements to control aberrations. A stepping motor provides fast, quiet autofocus with full-time manual override.

Travel Shooters and Everyday Carry

This bundle suits photographers who want a lightweight walkaround lens that retracts to 2.9 inches for easy packing. The included 52mm filter kit, cap keeper and cleaning kit add protection and maintenance convenience. Buyers needing a faster constant aperture, longer telephoto reach or weather-sealed construction should consider other options.

Variable Aperture f/4-6.3

The maximum aperture shifts from f/4 at 24mm to f/6.3 at 50mm, which determines low-light capability and depth-of-field control. This specification is the primary factor in deciding whether the lens matches your shooting requirements.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the stepping motor is focusing smoothly and quietly after mounting the lens?

Attach the lens to a Z-mount body, half-press the shutter and listen for near-silent operation; the motor should pull focus quickly without hunting, and the focus ring remains responsive for manual override.

Which items come in the bundle and what must I purchase separately?

The bundle includes the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens, a 52mm 3-piece filter kit, a lens cap keeper and a cleaning kit; you will need to buy any additional filters, hoods or cases separately.

Should I choose this 24-50mm f/4-6.3 or a different focal-length version for travel use?

This retractable zoom covers 24-50mm (36-75mm equivalent on DX) and collapses to 2.9 inches, making it the most compact standard zoom for FX-format Z-mount travel kits.
