Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S Bundle

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S is a compact prime lens designed for Nikon Z mirrorless cameras. It offers a normal field of view with a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture for low-light shooting and depth-of-field control. This bundle includes the lens, a three-piece filter kit, a lens cap keeper, and a cleaning kit. It suits photographers wanting a versatile standard focal length.

Attaching the Z-mount lens and using the filters

The lens mounts directly to the Z bayonet with no adapter required. The stepping motor provides swift, silent autofocus with full-time manual focus override for both stills and video. The programmable control ring allows intuitive adjustment of camera settings. The included filters thread onto the front; ensure threads are clean to avoid cross-threading.

Working within the f/1.8 prime design

The fixed 50mm focal length means framing changes require moving position rather than zooming. The f/1.8 aperture offers a practical limit for shallow depth of field and low-light exposure without flash. Optical performance is optimised for this aperture range via aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements with Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings. Buyers needing variable focal lengths or wider maximum apertures should consider other lens types.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S is focusing correctly after mounting it on my Z camera?

Enable full-time manual focus override and rotate the focus ring; the stepping motor should deliver swift, silent autofocus that snaps to the subject, and the programmable control ring can be set to display focus distance for confirmation.

Which accessories are included in the 20083 bundle and what must I purchase separately?

The bundle supplies the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S lens, a 3-piece filter kit, a lens cap keeper and a cleaning kit; additional items such as a lens hood, extra filters or a camera body are not included.

Should I choose the f/1.8 prime version or a zoom alternative for low-light portraits?

The f/1.8 maximum aperture on this 50mm prime gathers significantly more light than typical zoom lenses at the same focal length, providing brighter viewfinder images and shallower depth of field for portrait work.
