Z-mount macro for full-frame mirrorless

The Nikon NIKKOR Z MC 50mm f/2.8 is a macro prime built for the Z system and FX format sensors. It suits photographers who want life-size close-ups and a natural field of view on a single compact lens.

1:1 magnification with 6.3" minimum focus

At its closest setting the lens reaches 1:1 reproduction from a 6.3 inch working distance. The aperture stops down to f/22 for deep depth of field, while the bright f/2.8 maximum handles lower light and shallow focus isolation.

STM focus and front-focusing design

A stepping motor drives autofocus quietly with minimal focus breathing, useful for video work. The front-focusing layout keeps the barrel length constant, and a focus-range limiter speeds up acquisition when you know the subject distance. Fluorine coating on the front element repels water and smudges during field use.

Questions about this item

Will this 50mm Z-mount macro lens focus correctly on my older FTZ-adapted F-mount body?

The lens uses the native Z mount with a stepping motor for fast, quiet autofocus; it is designed for Z-mount cameras and FTZ adapter compatibility follows the adapter's own specifications.

How can I verify the 1:1 magnification is working after mounting the lens?

At the 6.3 inch minimum focus distance the magnification index on the barrel should read 1:1, and a subject the same size as the sensor will fill the frame.

Does the box include a lens hood or do I need to buy one separately?

The supplier data lists only the lens itself; any hood, filters or case are separate purchases.
