Wireless video system for live production
The Nimbus WiMi5200 transmits 1080p 3G-SDI and HDMI signals over 5 GHz Wi-Fi 4 with up to 1968.5 feet of line-of-sight range. It supports 12 selectable 40 MHz channels and delivers end-to-end latency of 30 ms or less. The system suits camera operators, drone pilots and digital-signage installers who need cable-free SDI workflows.
Thermals noise and power draw
Both transmitter and receiver draw power through 2-pin LEMO connectors and can also run from Sony NP-F type batteries on the transmitter side. The compact 4.65 x 2.68 x 0.98 inch aluminium housings dissipate heat passively without fans, so operation stays silent on set. Power consumption remains low enough for extended battery-powered shoots.
Build quality and daily mounting
Each unit provides a 1/4"-20 female thread for rigging on cameras, gimbals or stands. The transmitter includes a BNC loop-through output for local monitoring while the receiver offers a single BNC output. DIP switches on the chassis let you change Wi-Fi frequency and encoding rate without menus, and a USB port handles firmware updates in the field.

Questions about this item
How do I mount the transmitter on my camera rig, and which thread size is used?
Both units have a 1/4"-20 female thread; screw the transmitter onto a standard camera plate or cage until snug, then attach the BNC cable before powering on.
What battery type does the transmitter accept for portable power?
It uses one Sony L-Series / NP-F type battery; slide a charged pack onto the rear mount and secure the latch to avoid power loss during a shoot.
At what distance does the 5 GHz link typically drop below the 30 ms latency spec?
The spec guarantees ≤30 ms up to 600 m line-of-sight; beyond that range latency can rise as signal quality falls.
