Nintendo Switch Sports active play

Nintendo Switch Sports is a motion-controlled sports collection built for the Nintendo Switch console. It includes six launch disciplines — Soccer, Volleyball, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton and Chambara — all played with Joy-Con controllers. A seventh sport, Golf, is scheduled to arrive via a free update later in the year. The ESRB rating is E10+ for Everyone 10+, making it suitable for family sessions and younger players.

Six sports at launch with online progression

The package delivers six distinct activities out of the box, each using intuitive motion input that lets you curve a bowling ball, add spin to tennis shots or kick with the optional Leg Strap accessory. Online matchmaking lets you face opponents worldwide, earn points and redeem them for cosmetic rewards such as outfits and gear. Progression is tied to a ranked Pro League ladder for every sport. Players who want a deeper single-player career mode or a larger roster of launch sports will find the current content limited.

Motion control with Joy-Con and Leg Strap

The defining specification is the reliance on Joy-Con motion tracking for every discipline, with the Leg Strap accessory enabling leg-based kicks in Soccer Shootout. This means the game requires at least one pair of Joy-Con controllers and physical space to swing safely. Households without Joy-Con hardware or with restricted play areas cannot use the title as intended.
