Enhanced Hyrule adventure

This downloadable edition brings The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to the Nintendo Switch 2 system with performance upgrades. Players explore the expanded lands, skies and depths of Hyrule through a sequel that builds on Breath of the Wild's open-world design. The digital code redeems on Nintendo eShop using a Nintendo Account on or after the territorial launch date. It suits fans of the original seeking a technically refined version on the new hardware.

Zelda Notes companion app

ZELDA NOTES integrates with the Nintendo Switch app on compatible smart devices as a game-specific service exclusive to this edition. It supports the journey without requiring a separate Nintendo Switch Online membership, though persistent internet and a compatible smart device are necessary. Active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members receive access at no additional cost. Data charges may apply depending on the user's mobile plan.

Digital redemption process

Installation begins by entering the provided code 196742133592 into Nintendo eShop or other Nintendo shopping services via a Nintendo Account. The downloadable format removes physical media handling but requires sufficient internal storage or a compatible microSD card on the console. Common issues include attempting redemption before the official launch date in the buyer's territory or lacking a stable internet connection for the initial download and app sync.

Questions about this item

Will the digital code for model 196742133592 expire or need renewal after purchase?

The code is redeemed once on Nintendo eShop using a Nintendo Account and remains tied to that account; no further renewal or subscription is required to keep the game.

What is the first performance ceiling I will hit when playing for long sessions on Nintendo Switch 2?

The edition runs at higher resolution, improved frame rates and HDR on Switch 2 hardware; sustained play is limited by the console's thermal and power envelope, not by the software itself.

Does the downloadable version run hotter, louder or draw more power than a cartridge on Switch 2?

The game is a digital download stored on internal memory; it produces no extra heat, fan noise or power draw compared with a cartridge because the Switch 2 reads both from the same storage subsystem.
