72mm thread-less neutral density filter with nano coating

Nisi

NiSi 72mm Swift FS ND16 4-Stop Neutral Density Filter

SKU CH-YREM-HR4SD

A 72 mm thread-less ND16 filter that cuts light by four stops for the NiSi Swift friction-mount system

  • 4-stop light reduction for natural motion blur
  • 2 density cuts light by 4 stops
  • Full-spectrum glass preserves true color fidelity
  • Waterproof nano coating resists scratches and reflections
  • Press-on friction mount enables fast filter changes

Swift FS ND16 Compatibility

The NiSi Swift FS ND16 is a 72mm thread-less neutral density filter built exclusively for the NiSi Swift friction-mount system. It cannot attach directly to any lens and requires either a 72mm Swift Variable ND base or a 72mm Swift Adapter, each sold separately. This filter suits photographers and videographers already invested in the Swift ecosystem who need a fixed 4-stop reduction. It is not for shooters using standard threaded filters or other magnetic quick-change systems.

4-Stop Light Reduction

The filter provides an optical density of 1.2, reducing incoming light by exactly 4 stops to enable slower shutter speeds or wider apertures in bright conditions. This fixed ND16 factor is the single specification that determines whether the filter matches the exposure control you need for motion blur in video or long-exposure photography. If your workflow demands a different stop value or a variable density range, this fixed-strength filter will not cover those scenarios.

Optical Glass and Nano Coating

Full-spectrum neutrality maintains accurate colour fidelity across visible, infrared and ultraviolet wavelengths, preventing colour casts during extended exposures. The waterproof nano coating repels moisture and resists scratches, allowing droplets to bead and roll off for easy cleaning in outdoor environments. The press-on friction mount holds the filter securely during active shooting without the risk of magnetic dislodgement. No power draw, thermal output or audible noise is generated by this passive optical accessory.

Questions about this item

How much does the ND16 4-stop rating actually extend my exposure in the field?

The 1.2 density cuts light by four stops, letting you double the shutter speed four times over for motion blur in video or long exposures in bright daylight.

Does the Swift friction mount work with any 72 mm thread or only NiSi bases?

It presses onto NiSi Swift bases — either the 72mm Swift Variable ND or the 72mm Swift Adapter — and cannot attach directly to a lens thread.

What clearance does the thread-less filter need inside a matte box or filter tray?

The filter has no threads, so it sits flush against the Swift base; allow enough depth for the base plus the filter’s glass thickness.
