77mm Variable ND Filter for Video

The Nisi True Color ND-Vario is a screw-in filter built for lenses and adapters with a 77mm thread. It provides a variable exposure reduction of 1 to 5 stops, covering a density range of .3 to 1.5. This single accessory replaces multiple fixed ND filters for photographers and videographers who need flexible light control in changing conditions.

Suits Single-Lens Workflows Not Multi-Thread Kits

The removable stainless steel handle allows precise density adjustments without finger intrusion into the frame. External markings on the slim aluminum frame show density values, while hard stops at 1 and 5 stops prevent accidental over-rotation. This design suits creators who adjust exposure frequently on one primary lens. Buyers who need filters for multiple lens thread sizes or who require density beyond 5 stops should look at other solutions.

77mm Thread Size Determines Fit

The filter only mounts on optics with a 77mm standard filter thread. Confirming this specific diameter before purchase is the single specification that decides whether this is the right part. The high-quality optical glass with nano coating maintains sharpness and resists water, smudges, and reflections while minimising vignetting on compatible lenses.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 77mm filter on my lens and what step do people often miss?

Screw the filter onto the 77mm thread until snug, then attach the removable stainless steel control handle; the step often missed is fitting that handle before adjusting density.

What maintenance will the nano coating need over time?

Clean the coated glass with a microfibre cloth and lens solution when water marks or smudges appear; the nano coating resists water and reflections but still requires occasional gentle wiping.

At what density stop does the hard limit engage during a long shoot?

A tactile hard stop locks at both 1 stop and 5 stops, preventing accidental rotation beyond the 0.3 to 1.5 density range.
