40mm T1.9 full-frame cinema lens

The Nisi Athena Prime 40mm T1.9 covers a 46mm imaging circle for full-frame sensors. It uses a Canon RF mount and ships with a built-in filter holder. The design matches the existing Athena Prime series for uniform weight and synchronised ring positions.

Consistent exposure during focus pulls

Focus breathing is minimised so the field of view stays stable when shifting focus. The T1.9 aperture delivers shallow depth of field and smooth background separation. Micro-contrast control and low chromatic aberration preserve detail across the frame during sustained takes.

Matched handling across the Athena range

Identical focus and iris gear positions let you swap lenses without re-rigging follow-focus or matte-box accessories. The integrated filter holder accepts inserts directly, reducing front-end bulk. Uniform weight distribution keeps the camera balanced on gimbals or tripods.

Questions about this item

Does the 40mm T1.9 lens generate noticeable heat during long shooting days?

The lens is a passive optical device with no electronics, so it produces no operational heat of its own.

Which camera bodies can I mount this RF-mount cine lens on directly?

It fits Canon full-frame RF-mount cameras and covers the 46mm imaging circle.

Will the focus and iris rings line up with my existing Athena Prime lenses in a matte box?

Yes — the 40mm shares uniform weight and synchronised ring positions with the rest of the Athena Prime series.
