Purpose-Built Portrait Cinema Lens

The NiSi Aureus Prime 85mm T1.4 is a full-frame cinema lens designed for intimate close-ups and cinematic portraiture. Its focal length delivers flattering compression with a narrow depth of field to emphasise emotional storytelling. The PL mount ensures broad integration with professional camera systems and adapter workflows.

Breathing Control and Focus Precision

Virtually zero focus breathing keeps frame composition consistent throughout the focus range for precise pulls. A 300-degree focus rotation arc enables detailed manual control, especially useful in tight-focus portrait and macro-style framing. Dual glow-in-the-dark focus scales assist operation in low-light conditions.

Build Integration and Filter Workflow

The lens features a 90mm front diameter with an 86mm filter thread for standard matte-box and filter compatibility. A 46mm image circle covers full-frame sensors with neutral and accurate colour reproduction. At 2.8 lb and 9.1 inches in each dimension, the unit balances rig mounting stability with handheld manoeuvrability.

Questions about this item

How often does the 86mm front filter thread need cleaning during daily use?

The 86mm front thread accepts standard filters; clean only when dust or smudges appear on the glass, using a blower and microfiber cloth.

At what T-stop does the 46mm image circle begin to show vignetting on a full-frame sensor?

The 46mm image circle covers full frame evenly across the entire T1.4–T22 range, so vignetting does not appear at any aperture.

How much heat does the 2.8 lb barrel generate after hours of continuous shooting?

The all-metal 2.8 lb body dissipates heat passively; it stays comfortable to touch even during extended takes.
