Blue USB 3.0 Extension Cable 36 Inches

This blue USB 3.0 extension cable adds 36 inches of reach between a Type A host port and a Type A device plug. It suits anyone who needs to move a printer, scanner, external drive or tablet away from the computer without replacing the original cable.

5 Gbps SuperSpeed data rate

The cable supports USB 3.0 at 5 Gbps and remains fully backward compatible with USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps. Gold-plated contacts and foil-plus-braid shielding protect signal integrity at the higher rate.

Simple plug-in installation

Connect the Type A male end to the host and the existing device cable to the Type A female end; no drivers are required. The only common issue is exceeding the 36-inch length, which can degrade SuperSpeed performance.

Questions about this item

What does the 5 Gbps rate mean when I plug this cable into my computer?

The cable supports USB 3.0 SuperSpeed at 5 Gbps, so connected devices such as external drives or scanners can transfer data up to that rate when the host port also supports USB 3.0.

Which USB standard does the Type A connector follow, and what speed does it cap at?

The connectors are USB 3.0 Type A male to Type A female, limiting the link to 5 Gbps while remaining backward compatible with USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps.

How much space does the 36-inch length need to reach between my laptop and a desk-mounted hub?

At 36 inches long, the cable spans roughly three feet, giving enough slack to bridge a laptop to a nearby hub or peripheral without excess coil.
