The Norpro Grip-Ez 5133 cores and slices apples, pears and similar produce into 16 even sections with a single press. Santoprene-coated handles provide a soft, non-slip grip that reduces hand fatigue. A push plate ejects the cut pieces and covers the stainless-steel blades for safer storage. The tool is dishwasher safe for quick cleanup.

Capacity and headroom

Designed for one fruit at a time, it cleanly processes medium to large apples or pears in a single motion. Smaller items such as strawberries or grapes fall through the blade spacing and cannot be wedged. Very firm or oversized produce may require more force than the handles comfortably deliver, so the tool runs out of practical headroom with dense root vegetables or extra-large fruit.

Manual kitchen tool limits

Operation relies entirely on hand pressure, so throughput is limited by the user's strength and repetition speed. The fixed 16-blade pattern cannot be adjusted for thinner or thicker segments. Blades are not replaceable; once dulled the entire wedger must be replaced. The white plastic and stainless construction resists corrosion but offers no powered assistance for high-volume prep.
