5 GHz Wi-Fi Smart Plug 15A

The NOUS A9 is a compact wall-mounted smart plug rated at 15 amps and 120 volts. It connects to 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks and works with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control. The Tuya Smart app provides remote switching, scheduling and real-time energy monitoring. Its small footprint leaves the adjacent outlet free.

Practical limits of the Wi-Fi interface

The plug operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, so your router must broadcast at least one of these frequencies. The 5 GHz band offers less interference but shorter range through walls. Scheduling and remote control require an active internet connection; local operation is not supported. The device is rated for indoor use between 0 and 40 °C.

What to check before ordering

Verify that the outlet supplies 120 volts and can deliver up to 15 amps for the intended load. Confirm your phone runs a compatible version of the Tuya Smart app for setup. Ensure the wall box or power strip has enough depth for the 6 cm x 3.8 cm x 5.2 cm body. The plug is UL listed and CSA certified for North American wiring.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 15 A model or a lower-amperage version?

The plug is rated at 15 A and 120 V, so select it when the appliance draws up to 15 A; a lower-amperage model would limit you to smaller loads.

What does the 15 A rating mean once the plug is installed?

It allows continuous operation of devices up to 15 A at 120 V while reporting real-time energy use in the app.

Which Wi-Fi bands does the plug use and what does that cap in practice?

It connects on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz; the 5 GHz band gives faster, less congested links but shorter range through walls.
