Product identity

Nu-Calgon 4217-12 is a black self-adhesive cork tape supplied in a 30 ft roll that is 2 in wide and 1/8 in thick. It is designed for insulation work on air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Suitable uses and limits

HVAC technicians and maintenance crews can use it to wrap pipes, ducts and fittings operating between -20 °F and 195 °F. It is not intended for buyers who need a non-adhesive wrap, a different width or a material rated beyond this temperature span.

Installation checks

Verify that the surface is clean, dry and within the stated temperature range before applying the tape. Confirm the 30 ft length and 2 in width match the area you plan to cover. Note the Proposition 65 warning regarding reproductive-harm chemicals.

Questions about this item

What surface preparation is needed before applying the self-adhesive cork tape?

Clean the surface so it is dry and free of oil or dust, then press the tape firmly into place; the adhesive bonds at temperatures from -20 °F to 195 °F.

Can the 2 in wide tape be used on copper refrigerant lines that are already insulated?

Yes, the 1/8 in thick cork layer adds extra insulation over existing wrap and stays flexible across the same -20 °F to 195 °F range.

How can I verify the tape is sealed correctly after installation?

Run the system through a full heating and cooling cycle; no air gaps or condensation should appear along the 30 ft length.
