What you get with the BINO-0827

These compact binoculars deliver 12x magnification through a 25 mm objective lens in a black chassis that measures 4.0 in by 4.0 in by 4.4 in. They are designed for adults and children who want a lightweight optic for bird watching, travel or casual outdoor use.

Optical performance in extended use

The BAK-4 prism and fully multi-coated lenses maintain brightness and contrast during long viewing sessions, while the 7.5-degree field of view translates to 273 ft at 1000 yds. Low-light capability is limited to twilight conditions and the unit is not suitable for completely dark environments.

Adjusting the eyecups and focusing

Twist-up rubber eyecups provide 15 mm eye relief, allowing spectacle wearers to fold them down and non-wearers to extend them for a full field. A single centre-focus wheel drives both barrels; the hinge has no lock, so the interpupillary distance can shift if the binoculars are knocked in a pack.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise do these 12x25 binoculars produce during all-day outdoor use?

As a passive optical instrument with no motor or electronics, they generate no heat and make no noise during extended use.

What must I already own for the adjustable 15 mm eyecups to work properly with my glasses?

Only your prescription glasses or sunglasses; the twist-down rubber cups are built into the binoculars and need no extra adapter.

Will the 7.5-degree field of view match the wider angle of my older 8x porro-prism binoculars for scanning the same landscape?

The 7.5-degree field gives a 273 ft width at 1000 yds, which is narrower than many traditional 8x porro models, so the scanned area will be smaller.
