Portrait prime for Micro Four Thirds

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f/1.8 is a short telephoto prime designed for Micro Four Thirds cameras. Its 75mm focal length delivers a 150mm equivalent field of view, making it purpose-built for portrait work, stage photography and indoor sports. The lens weighs 10.7 oz and uses a 50mm front filter thread.

Suited to portrait and low-light shooters

Photographers who want shallow depth of field and strong subject separation at a classic portrait length will benefit from the f/1.8 aperture and nine-blade diaphragm. The MSC autofocus drive provides fast, near-silent focusing for both stills and video. Buyers who need zoom flexibility, wider angles or weather sealing should look at other lenses.

75mm focal length with f/1.8 aperture

The 75mm focal length combined with a maximum aperture of f/1.8 is the defining specification. It determines the 150mm equivalent reach, the depth-of-field control and the low-light capability that make this lens a specialist portrait tool rather than a general-purpose optic.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 75mm f/1.8 lens generate during all-day shooting?

The lens is a passive optical device with no electronics that produce heat, so it does not generate measurable warmth during extended use.

What camera body and mount are required to use this 75mm Micro Four Thirds lens?

A Micro Four Thirds camera body with the standard MFT bayonet mount is required; the lens will not fit other systems without an adapter.

Will the 75mm f/1.8 lens autofocus on my older Micro Four Thirds body that uses contrast-detect AF?

The MSC inner-focus drive works with contrast-detect bodies, though focus speed may be slower than on newer phase-detect models.
