Pocket Memory Scanner

The Opticon OPN2001 is a pocket-sized 1D laser barcode scanner designed for mobile data collection. It captures up to 100 scans per second and stores more than 15.000 barcodes in internal memory for later transfer via USB cable. Weighing less than 30 grams, it fits easily into a pocket for all-day portability.

Suits Mobile Workers

This scanner suits retail staff, field technicians and warehouse operatives who need to capture barcodes away from a fixed terminal and upload them in batches. It is not for users who require real-time wireless streaming to a host system or the ability to read 2D codes such as QR codes.

Simple USB Offload

Installation is straightforward: scan barcodes while mobile, then connect the USB cable to a computer to offload the stored data. The main friction point is remembering to transfer data before the 15.000-code buffer fills, which would halt further scanning until offloaded.

Questions about this item

Does the OPN2001 need a computer with a USB port to offload the stored barcodes?

Yes, the collected barcodes are transmitted by a USB cable, so a free USB port on the host computer is required for data offload.

Can the OPN2001 scan barcodes while it stays paired with a legacy POS terminal over its wireless link?

The scanner stores scans internally and transfers them later via USB cable; it does not stream data live over a wireless connection to a terminal.

How can I confirm the OPN2001 has captured a barcode during use?

Each successful scan increments the internal counter; after the session, connect the USB cable and verify that the stored count matches the expected number of scans.
